Unpopular opinion, but I found this movie to be boring. It doesn't have the elements that would keep one glued to their seats. There are many other psychological/ psychedelic thriller movies that I adore (black swan, trainspotting etc..) but this one didn't blow my mind, maybe because of the overhype that it created over time. Also to mention, editing and cinematography was spot on thus bringing the much needed psychedelic stuff to the screen nicely.

*Petta* (2019) Diminishing utilisation of "Thalaivar swag" to the fullest. Ageing process making it tough for Rajinikanth to choose scripts. *Scene1* : _enters karthik subbaraj_ "Let's make a movie to satisfy all the fans and people out there. Also it will be a fanboy moment to direct the superstar. I need a strong crew to fullfill the dream." *Scene2* : _enters sun pictures,kalanithi maran_ "Kavalaipedama thalavair padathaaka enna veno seyyuve..padam summa meratalayrikkanom" *Scene 3* : _enters anirudh_ "My career's best performance guaranteed for the one and only superstar. Lets create the 90s mood back once again." *Scene 4* : _Petta release_ A brilliant mass entertainer that projects the charismatic mannerism and portrays the 90s rajini that will keep you thrilled till the end. A superb technical team and clever breakdown of screenplay takes this otherwise average film to the next level. Superstar's screen presence + the all time mass bgms guarentees goosebumps. *RATSASAN* (2018) Known for its masala romance along with kuthu song and gravity defying action sequences Kollywood was one of the most underrated movie industry,but time proved them wrong. Recent flicks from not so familiar directors and films with no star value started getting audience appreciation on a large scale because of its out of box concepts and unparalleled direction styles and you would end up saying _"tamil cinema romba dhooram poyitten folks_". *Ratsasan* ,the latest installment from Kollywood having a psycho thriller genre has the usual story of a normal psycho thriller movies that we had heard and seen but what differs it from others is its gripping direction and suspenseful story telling. The story is the same old child kidnapping and killing them in a brutal way and the police officer trying to unlock the mystery behind it. Seems too cliche!! Right? But it's actually not that cliche as you'll guess atleast 3 villains in the movie and the script will prove you wrong all the time providing a fresh piece of suspense. The unpredictability was another major thing that you'll love about this movie. Villain BGM was right there bringing you the much needed anticipation throughout the movie. Psycho thriller genre is not very successful in Tamil cinema and very few directors have explored this area and Ram Kumar (director) has definitely done justice to his work bringing us an ambient visual treatment. Climax was intelligent and the entire team made sure that there are no logical flaws or whatsoever in the movie. Verdict: Ratsasan is a top notch thriller which will let you guess and at last surprise you. *3.5/5*
