Apple TV's Foundation is a huge disappointment to anyone who has actually read Asimov's Foundation cycle. The creators used a few names and motifs from Isaac Asimov's original story, then smeared their ideas of what makes and exciting sci-fi show over them. Evil empire? Check. Powerful androids? Check. Sex in sci-fi scenery? Check. Weird irrational cults killing scientists? Check. If you like mindless entertainment with explosions, fighting, scantily clad beautiful women, spaceships, and exotic locales, this is your show. If you are looking for a modern retelling close to Asimov's classic, this will disappoint you as much as it does me.
