I understand that the movie was made for children, but it leaves much to be desired. The animation is unsettling and the story seems rushed. Honestly it's one of those movies that doesn't add anything to the already long running SpongeBob franchise. The characters don't act like themselves and the songs are just bad. To bring it back to the fact that it was made for children, I feel as though it was overly simplified to the point that even a child would become frustrated. The acting in the movie is insufferable and any attempt at a joke was painful. The main villain's plan was, in my opinion, not well thought out and frankly stupid. I think that they could have made the movie so much better if they stuck with Sandy's family and we got to know them better. (Possibly diving into her past with the circus). Really anything would have been better than the plot that this movie follows. If you are a long time SpongeBob fan then I wouldn't recommend this movie.
