The book is for sure a product of its time, having racism, animal abuse, and of course not trusting the women to care for things. However, it was an alright book. It was fairly predictable, and I could tell from the moment the rabies were mentioned how the book would end. The ending felt very rushed, as well. Granted, I am likely above the age demographic, but I still don’t see why this book is so praised. It’s good at parts, yes, but it’s just another book where the dog dies just to make you sad. 2.75/5 stars.

When I started this book, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. It was on my bookshelf, and has been for a while. At first, it started off pretty slow. I didn’t find myself that interested in it because it took a while to build up. However, I’m so glad I decided to finish it. Walk Two Moons is a story about grief that’s beautifully written. I was surprised at the more mature topics like miscarriage and the death of the grandma. I admittedly thought this was a kid’s book. However, I feel as if this book handed the topics wonderfully, and even had me tearing up. I could relate to Sal, having facing loss in my life, and for a long time being in that denial stage. While I did enjoy the book, I did find Sal’s beginning relationship with Ben to be icky, especially being children. Ben kissing her randomly after not knowing her? Yeah… that’s a bit weird. I did end up liking his character, but I felt as if not much would’ve changed if you took him out of the story. The romance felt a little unnecessary. The other thing I have to nitpick about is the ensemble cast, as it got fairly confusing. However, other than that, I’d say this is a fantastic book. The ending surprised me in a good way, and it was perfect for this story. The focused characters are so well written that it leaves you craving more.  I for sure look forward to reading more of Creech’s work. 4.5/5 stars.

A very educational book - especially to dog lovers of any age. It not only provides information, but also some humor and pictures of such good dogs. For sure an interesting read!

It’s a very slow book, and it was definitely a struggle to read. However, despite me struggling with it, it was actually pretty informational. I learned a lot, I just wish it was written in a way that was easier for me to digest.

A heartbreaking, but incredibly written book. I had to read this for a class, and it made me realize how much really happened in WW2. Sure I had heard stories before, but I don’t think it ever registered in my mind of how bad it truly was. This book was hard to read, but not in a bad way. It really puts into perspective how much he suffered, and it makes you wonder how many other stories like his lay forgotten in time.

A pretty cute book! I loved the autism representation with Jack, and I could definitely relate to Emma being a homeschooler like myself. Although I never stuck with an in-person school, I faced some of the same struggles as she did when I was younger. As an older sibling, seeing Emma want to be with her older brother tugged at my heartstrings as well. It for sure made me think about my younger siblings and how we’ve grown apart. The representation is written wonderfully, and I could for sure see myself in the kids, and I even know a few of those kids in my life. I would for sure recommend this book to younger students, or those transferring schools to know that they’re not alone in their feelings. Beautiful book.  4.75/5 stars.

I went into this book completely blind. It had been on my shelf for a while, likely from one of my siblings, and I finally decided to pick it up. Firegirl is a beautiful story, and I can see why it won awards. The characters act very much their age, too. I know I laughed at a few parts of the book as I could see myself when I was Tom’s age in the way they acted. I do wish there was a bit more bonding between Tom and Jessica, but regardless of that it was still wonderfully written.  4.5/5 stars!

A different book than I thought it would be, but overall a pleasant read. I loved the script-like formatting, and I liked the fact that we don’t find out if Steve is guilty or innocent  - that it’s up to us to decide. I wouldn’t typically read a book like this, but it was fun to branch out and try something new. I loved the characters and the dialogue, and the relationships between family are shown pretty well. Overall a good read!

My Review contains spoilers!!! . . . . . A really cute book overall. The middle of the story felt somewhat rushed, but it calmed down once it reached the end. I really liked the plot twist of the admirer being Jordan instead of the girl. I was a little disappointed, and thought it would take a different direction once the stereotypical “lead is gone and underdog needs to replace him,” but I actually loved the execution.  I do think the whole “accidentally posed a photo of my in costume” plot like was a little silly.. it didn’t have much purpose other than temporary tension and make Libby seem stupid. She’s a theater nerd, of COURSE she’d know about copyright laws and such. Anyways it was a cute story and a nice continuation to the first. 4.75/5
