Coming from someone majoring in screenwriting, this one of the worst movies I’ve seen. I saw the terrible reviews, the odd cast, and figured I’d watch it for a good laugh. Unfortunately, this movie is so bad that it’s past the point of laughing it off. Truly, you know a movie is past the point of no return when Florence pughs’ performance can’t put a life-saving spin on it. I was left open-mouthed for the last thirty minutes of the film, and not in an ‘wow that was a good plot-twist’ way, but in an ‘I can’t believe someone actually wrote this and it got released’ type of way. It’s obviously meant to be some sort of mantra for feminist liberation, but the whole thing failed at promoting such. Instead of the end leaving a feeling of empowerment, it left me sick at the portrayal of such abusive and unforgivable relationships strung together by the most brutal misogyny. The point was so often lost in a mix of horrible scripting, lack of cohesion, blaring plot holes, and unfortunate lack of a plotline. Honestly, the result was embarrassing considering how much time and budget was put into the production. The concept/world itself had so much potential, but they battered it to bits with the execution. Perhaps if they extracted the plot twist and completely redesigned everything else, it could have been redeemable. In the end, feel free to watch it if you want to be entertained; because it certainly draws viewers in purely by shock factor. However, as a film itself, it is so incredibly low-quality that I am stunned people unironically like this.

This has got to be one of the worst shows I’ve seen. Unlikable characters, terrible plot, confusing narrative, repetitive lines, and a laughable script. People say it gets bad after the first couple seasons… but let’s be real it was bad from the start. The people who like this show are people who are easily satisfied as long as there’s enough going on— regardless of if the chaos makes a semblance of sense. There were a crazy amount of times that I broke out into laughter during serious moments because the script was sooooo bad. Seriously how could this have gone through so many people and all of them approved it?? I dunno. They definitely threw in twists to keep the audience on their toes but didn’t care if the plot twists made any sense at all. Good for a laugh, but that’s it.
