Views from a person who criticizes identity politics while at the same time using his identity. Won't criticize mainstream right wing ideas that are clearly toxic while criticizing the broad left by treating far left ideas as mainstream is disingenuous. At the end of the day this book really adds nothing to the market place of ideas. If you are aware of Rubin you will likely read this book as an act of affirmation or contempt of his point of view depending on your politics. If you have no idea who he with no preconceived notions about his motivations, this book offers nothing new.
