Dafoe is great as always but the story lacks dimension or resolve. He's trapped and suffers a gradual decline because no one in this expensive high rise seems to be paying any attention to what's going on in the penthouse apartment, even when the security alarms are blaring and a fire sets off sprinklers that flood the place. Huh...

Too dark (literally) and not enough of Venice. Confusing mix of characters, none of whom are developed at all.

Well made, very atmospheric, and actually scary.

Denzel is fun to watch as always and the Italian landscape is beautiful to see. A little too formulaic and corny for my taste.

Too much time spent on his personal life and too little on bomb development. Also makes it seem like America was the bad guy for developing the bomb and dropping it on a fanatical Japan who would not otherwise have surrendered.
