I honestly wish I could give this movie zero stars.
First off, I was beyond frustrated with the granddaughter who inherited Christmas Land. She was blessed with an entire magical town for free. She saw its potential and still wanted to sell it? 🤦🏾♀️ That made no sense.
Then comes the boyfriend. The moment he said, “You can finally buy the place you wanted,” it was clear he wasn’t truly in love. A real man in love would’ve said, “I’ll buy you that place so we can start our life together.” Instead, he revealed he was more interested in her money. And at her age, she didn’t see through that? 🤦🏾♀️
What really took me over the edge, though, was her decision to travel to Chicago to meet with the buyer. She didn’t do a background check, didn’t bring a lawyer and her so-called boyfriend definitely wasn’t one either, since he didn’t even read the contract. He was more worried about her getting the check so he could live off her. She trusted a stranger’s word and signed a contract without even reading it! Who does that? 🤦🏾♀️ The writer could’ve easily added a smarter plot point, like her requesting a copy of the meeting footage, since the buyer verbally promised not to change Christmas Land. That would’ve been clear evidence and she could’ve reclaimed her place without paying $1.3 million.
Instead, they made the main character look clueless, which was beyond frustrating. I usually watch Christmas movies to feel good, but this one just made me mad, even a whole day later I still feel annoyed enough to leave this review. Whoever wrote this script, please take a step back. It felt rushed, lazy, and completely missed the mark.
