Great idea, terrible execution. The first 20 minutes really grabbed me, the concept was nothing like I've really seen before. I'll also say the cinematography at times was beautiful - the shots of landscapes were gorgeous and ominous, the location was perfect, and the imagery of the ritual was attention grabbing. That said, this movie was a huge let down. Was very intrigued by the idea of moving through different circles and rooms with different purposes on a mother's quest for revenge. However these points of interest were never elaborated on or weaved into a logical story arc. The ritual was never explained and seemed very random: what they were doing, what it was intended to accomplish, like why the mom was reading and writing from the text, staying in a room for 2 days etc. Instead scenes just jumped from one random ritual cut to another, interspersed with down time where Sophia was in fully bought into the process or raging because it wasn't working. Several times this happened, with little connection to what was taking piece in the ritual. The acting was stilted. The build ups lead to very little. The demonic scenes at the end were silly, and dear God that fucking angel was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Such poor cgi it was laughable. Someone please watch this movie and make a better version that does the concept justice. That's a film that needs to be made.

This movie is so slow, so boring, tires up no loose ends, and builds to literally nothing. Even if you watched it at 1.5x speed it would still put you to sleep. Terrible.
