Carol Tidwell

An excellent history of much of our country and also the world as related to the events and people of the Bronx. Some, like Trotsky, did not live there long. Others, like Gouveneur (sp?)Morris, who wrote the preamble to the Constitution among other majesties, departed and came back. The natives originally in the area left a long-lasting imprint on the borough. The book is a gem.

A good airplane trash read. Nothing more.

Earlier books I read by David Maraniss were very readable and I hated to see them end. This book is not like those. The dry, almost stilted story of his early years ran about 150 pages - far too long. I could not get through it.
