Cathy and I both found it very entertaining , despite some mixed reviews . It is a bit like Brief Encounter with Guns ( and modest amounts of sex) . .Essentially a love triangle with a repressed husband and repressed wife coming into contact with a confident and handsome German who seems to have the edge despite being a lodger in his own requisitioned Hamburg house after ww2 is lost . The subplots include the German's daughter getting involved with the 'Werewolves' underground , which I believe in reality was largely a figment of the nervous Alied Forces' imaginations but here threatens British lives .Hence the 'guns' and blood. KK looks a star as always and all the male acting is solid . There are a succession of satisfactory twists , and indeed the absence of twists as possibilities are put into the audience's mind and then denied.. The ending had emotional power and we left very happy with the evening
