Having followed this brilliant series from the first to the 5th series , I am in awe of the incredible ending and the amazing storytelling ! Brilliant. Just brilliant. It’s a masterclass in radio drama, wit, and emotional nuance. Joanna Lumley and Roger Allam as the ever-bickering, ever-loving couple whose conversations—sharp, soulful, and always laced with amazingly appropriate music choices make the episodes skip along. Jan Etherington’s writing continues to strike that rare balance between laugh-out-loud funny and quietly profound. The chemistry between the leads is effortless; you don’t hear two actors performing—you hear two people who’ve shared a life, with all its quirks, irritations, and enduring affection. What makes this series truly sing is its intimacy. There’s no high drama here, just the daily symphony of long-term love: shared memories, changing bodies, silly spats over failed MOTs, or Spotify playlists, and the quiet undercurrent of mortality that gives it all weight. Series 5 deepens that feeling. The couple’s reflections on ageing, family, and time passing are handled with such tenderness and honesty that you’re laughing one minute and blinking away tears the next. It’s rare to hear something so real, so relatable, and yet so quietly joyful. If you've loved someone for a long time—or hope to—this series is a warm hug, a sly wink, and a gentle reminder that love, in all its eccentricity, is worth every conversation. The very best of a top class comedy drama ! Perfect Christmas TV!

After The Party ….wow after the drama we were reeling with awe and admiration for a knockout drama . The lead actors were inspired and made for a breathtaking performance of this piece over 6 episodes, of the ultimate gaslighting of a woman’s existence! Robin Malcolm was so real it was painful at times to watch - and Peter Mullan was as usual a slow burning masterclass in story revelation. This has to be up there with Happy Valley, as one of the greatest tv dramas ever .

Excellent and authentic portrayal of the midlife crises of a woman disappointed by her past sexual experiences . As usual Emma Thompson nails it and her co star is wondrous too !
