One of my top 5 favorite books. It is one of those books I wish I could go back and read it again for the first time. I first read it 50 years ago and I can remember how it touched the core of my being and sensibilities with my young naive dreams of what the world could be and should be and believing it actually was somewhere. It stuck with me for days and months afterward. I’ve read it again over the years through the different phases of life and cumulative experiences, with new eyes at each level and find it as compelling as the first time, perhaps without the freshness of youthful idealism, but with the same yearning and desire for Shangri-La.
