While there are obvious similarities with Black Bladder, and the profanity levels in Dudley Moore and Peter Cooke’s Pete & Dud sketches make this look like a vicars tea party, both were extremely funny whereas The Favourite simply is not. I’ve yet to meet a woman who doesn’t find c- - t an offensive term, but even for any who do not, it’s liberal use adds nothing to this tawdry attempt to undermine the18th century British upper class and monarchy.
