I enjoy this show and am quite entertained by the quirky, mastermind of Elsbeth. Each mystery is supported by a unique cast, the plots hold together and allow the audience to become involved in solving each episode’s crime. Unfailingly Elsbeth’s astute observations, while appearing scatterbrained and silly, save the day. However, I am irritatingly distracted by the empty tote bags she carries around. They are rarely mentioned, add nothing to the story or Elsbeth’s character and detract from the visions of her eccentric fashion choices. Elsbeth draws your attention with her mannerisms, behavior and facial expressions. Her colorful character is expressed in her style as well. The tote bags do nothing to add to our understanding of her character. Why so many of them? Is she neurotic? That would be counter intuitive. They do not support her fashion choices- they don’t complement her clothes and they are essentially colorless. Please get rid of them so we can focus on the character- not her baggage.
