Julia on HBO is a travesty. Virtually every plot point is made up:
-Her husband Paul (according to her) was always supportive of her career.
-WGBH paid Julia (not much) for every program she made.
-They started with three pilot episodes, paid for by WGBH.
But that wasn't dramatic enough for HBO. Julia's husband was a condescending jerk. Her WGBH producer hated working with her. Julia had to give cooking lessons- and lie to her husband- to pay for the show.
All these plot points are completely fabricated.
So basically this series takes place in some alternate reality. Maybe next week's episode will have Julia working for the CIA. Actually Paul and Julia worked for the OSS during WW2- the forerunner of the CIA. See? Truth can be more interesting than fiction.
