My least favourite of the Trolls franchise. Super disappointed because my girls and I loved the first two movies. Songs weren’t as strong as previous movies and the adult jokes and content were too much. I know they mostly go over kids heads but they weren’t subtle like the ones in Frozen or Shrek. It was just in bad taste. References to drugs, hangovers, literal swear word that they bleep out, bondage, and these references didn’t add anything to the actual story. It wasn’t funny for adults it was just kind of unnecessarily raunchy. Kids should probably be at least 12 to watch the movie. I had my twin 4 year olds and 7 year old daughters in the theatre with me just hoping they didn’t get it. They tried to cram too many “lessons” or “messages” into the story instead of one strong cohesive message so the main message got completely lost and when the “harmony” of the brothers happened, it was ultimately anti-climactic. The movie was so bad that when the NSYNC cameo happens at the end, I didn’t care, I just wanted it to be over. And I was a total boy band girly back in the day. I saw someone comment that a girl band would have been cool and I agree! Like, get Viva, Bridget and Poppy doing some Destiny’s Child inspired music instead of whatever that was. The last big musical number was meh. I won’t watch this movie again with my girls but will definitely go back to the first two movies, tracks were anmazing and the storylines were way better. The only cool thing was that it was 3D so the visual effects were very neat during some scenes, which was the movie’s saving grace.
