Amazing souls like combat with satisfying exploration and unique and fun builds. The Umbral Plane is a cool concept that makes the game exceptionally unique and interesting. I look forward to seeing how they explore this gameplay in any future DLCs and games.
Playing on PS5 almost a year since launch and having no performance issues.
The checkpoint system is very different and challenges the set in place dogma of bonfires from Dark Souls. It’s not necessarily bad as you receive plenty of the checkpoint spawn item but I can be hard to know if you’re choosing to use it at a good time or if there will be an in-game set checkpoint after the next set of enemies. Also, I don’t understand the rational to progressively remove the set checkpoints in progressive NG+ runs. This just makes fast travel tedious.
