This movie is just pathetic. I watched it and nodded off multiple times and had to do rewinds. Changing the mice to rats was simply "Been there done that with NIMH". Then hey here's a new ploy the are warlike and act like Nazis. Wow, such a fresh new concept!!! Then there is the scatterbrained, poor performance by Nathan Lane as "Uncle Albert". I can't tell if he is some kinda Albert Einstein knockoff, or a Beethoven, or (and this is mostly the case) Mr. Tudball from the Carol Burnett show! Just so sad. Also, gone is the evil charm of Madame Mouserinks for a boring Rat Queen ham handedly performed by Frances de la Tour. Poor John Turturro performance of the Rat King is a cross between Elton John, Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka, Coppola's Dracula, and a staccato ratman. The film is far too ponderous to really be a true action film, but it does do what many action movies do these days, it sacrifices a plot with great roots for mediocre action wrapped up in unimaginative acting by actors valued more for their names than their abilities to really interpret the characters they are asked to play. I am so glad that I didn't pay to see this mess.
