It's difficult to make a thoroughly enjoyable, feel-good dog movie, and if The Art of Racing in the Rain was only that, it wouldn't be any different. But like its canine star Enzo is more than just a dog at heart, Racing in the Rain is more than just a dog *movie* at heart. Racing in the Rain is a movie about family and father-ship, the struggle of fighting for what you love, the thrill of racing, and the relationship between human racer Denny, and his faithful canine companion Enzo. It sometimes struggles to combine all these qualities effectively, and it's far from a flawless movie, but it manages to be interesting throughout, and the fantastic, bittersweet-honey feel-good ending alone is worth watching the whole movie for!
