This movie was very controversial in its time and could arguably be controversial in today's world. This movie set a bench mark for future movies on issues of race and discrimination among people and the police. This movie expressed the emotions, expressions, and theme of violence vs. non-violence scenarios.
It is clear that this movie was so popular in its time due to relevancy with real-world issues like racism, biased opinions, and foolishness. The main character was did a swell job being aggressive in the film and in return received strong, unpleasant reactions from his other cast members to prove a point. There is one scene that is intense where a cop is under pressure and ends up killing someone instead of evaluating the scenario and having better judgement.
Things like this happen so often still in today's world and it is not getting dealt with. There are plenty of times where non violent scenarios turn into violent scenarios due to in experience, fear, and judgement. No one is perfect but if everyone from all types of races were to get a long better instead of judging each other, the world would be a better place instead of the tragedies we are represented by.
Overall this movie has a great representation of our culture back then and our culture today. If you can handle the aggressiveness and uncomfortable action scenes, you can judge the scene by the overall message it is trying to surface to its viewers.
