I was shocked at how poorly this tale is concieved and told. There was a day when all the heros wore white and the villians black. Today there are no redeeming virtues in any character - just catty chatter and bizzare behavior. How boring and what a waste of talent.
As one who is old enough to remember these real people I find this screenplay a perfect example of the, "Let's only show the nasty stuff to get to big ratings" approach, while including a great deal of the woke philosphy that Hollywood clings to (they were all racists).
While these people were greatly flawed they were also greatly successful, making significant contributions to society at large Did I miss that part?
I found most performances simply adequate, except for Ted Hollander who nailed Truman Capote better than any previous interpretation. Capote was a gifted and tortured artist - self-destructive and lost. But for a film presumably meant to show the morale decadence of NY Society and its negative impact on the women within, they might have considered showing us some redeeming virtues as a reason to care for those women.
