I think this book is very good and will be useful to students and workers in the sphere of sociology, anthropology, economist, agrarian, etc. Redfield has contributed significantly to make all walks of life but most importantly anthropologist and sociologist dealing with India aware of peasant society as the subject of study. Though the relevance of his conceptualization is debatable in India particularly in the fast changing contemporary socio-economic context, his traditions generated continued interest in peasant and village studies dominated anthropological sociological studies in the first few decades in rural India.
