I don't think this book is up to the usual standard. I agree, the plot line (though topical) is implausible. Much is made about the horrors of the illegal dog trade - all true I have no doubt. But the fact that 2 people get murdered during the book seems to be treated as secondary to the story. Also there are so many corny quips which get tedious. And a lot of techie procedural stuff that isn't interesting.
