The actors shine in this. They work with the material they're given and they make it believable. The subject matter, family trauma, homophobia, substance abuse, feels very in your face and the pacing feels way off. It goes from zero to light speed in the last act and when the different storylines finally merge and you get the (predictable) backstory of the central characters, it just hits you with no warning. It's very jarring as a viewer. You're not prepared for it, which I think was probably the director's intent, it just falls short. This movie could have been amazing with the right pacing and maybe one or two of the subplots either expanded on or omitted entirely. It's not a total loss. There are some moments of inspired greatness in the performances, specifically from the three central characters played by Garrett Clayton, Johnny James Fiore and Jordan Doww. I expect big things from these aspiring actors!
