I served in a Marine corps infantry unit and it was pretty dysfunctional. Don't get me wrong I can't speak for every infantry unit in the marine corps but neither can you. (I was in 3/6 India... and yes that was the unit that lost three rifles). I like how the director didn't focus on the War but on the people there. You felt for the marine that saw his wife having sex with another guy... felt for the marine that is mentally exhausted by wondering if the girl he loved moved on...felt for the marine that served a tour and never saw actions. This is a more down to earth view of war. The war that is easily overlooked.
