Totally brilliant! The story behind the making of the making of The Godfather. It was as engaging as the film itself. I had to keep checking that storyline for The Offer was an actual account of the real story. It was. The casting was spot on. The acting superb, with characters that were actually likeable. The story was interesting, funny, a little sad and incredible: but thoroughly entertaining. I don't do spoiler alerts, but if you haven't watched The Godfather, you will want to after sering this. The series is 10 episodes long, but I didn't want it to end. It's one of the best things I've seen in a long while. The Godfather one and two are amongst my favourite films, and now that I have watched The Offer, I will watch them again with a renewed interest.

Filmed almost entirely in the dark, this film could be considered a disappointing version of a Jack the Ripperesque film. It was overly slow with characters that were hard to like or even care about. Daniel Mays tries hard to build some enthusiasm into his character, but a dour Bill Nighy must have needed the money. One to miss unless you are an insomniac.

The film was just one cliche after another. None of the characters were particularly likeable, and were rather iritating. This type of ensemble film has had it's day. So unless there is a really good plot with credible, relatable characters, portrayed by actors whose motivation is not just the paycheck, they shouldn't have bothered. I picked the DVD from the pound shop. After watching it, I guess that was 99p too much.

Being the Ricardos? Who would want to? Neither of the main characters are remotely likeable, or ones that you could emphasize with. The film is slow, uninspiring and, quite frankly a waste of over two hours. Certainly does not live up to the hype.

Really boring and predictable. Such a shame to waste the talents of Celia Imrie. I think I would rather clean the oven than watch this drivel.

Another slow and fairly predictable film. Not quite getting there in characterisation. The story might have been more interesting if perhaps Tom had talked about Mary and his life, to some of the people he met on his journey, rather than rely totally on flashbacks. I felt that the people Tom encountered were somewhat lacking in any real character, merely brief interactions that did not really add much to the story. I understand that the confrontational scene needed to be included so Tom could be the Bus Hero, but perhaps it could have been better executed. One real niggle was Tom's accent. Born in Cornwall, lived 60 odd years in Scotland; so why did he appear to speak with a Norfolk accent? Strange.

I'm not quite sure why I have missed this film previously. That being said, it was pretty good. The acting was very good and Edward Norton's portrayal was a worthy winner of the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. The story unfolds like a John Grisham novel. Lots of seemingly unconnected strands that become part of a bigger story, by linking together. As with some of the other reviewers, you could see where the story was going, and, you could possibly pre-empt the ending. However, it wasn't until the final few minutes that you could see how the story would end. I think it is comparable with the TV series, Showtrial. Another 'are they' 'aren't they' crime story. It's a good story, well executed.

A better than average film. The casting and acting was good; the two main protagonists were comfortable in their roles and portrayed the characters sympathetically. A pretty good thriller that was based on true events; the very end of the film seemed to suggest that Wynne went on to lead a life pretty differently from his actual life. However, that being said, the film is definitely worth watching, and considerably better than a lot of the crud that passes itself off as entertainment.

This is yet another story of David versus Goliath: Big business against the ordinary person. A similar story has been replicated in such films as Erin Brockovich and A Civil Action. It is perhaps quite frightening that there are so many well known, giant, corporations responsible for endangering the health and well being of so many unsuspecting citizens; using intimidation and money to supress the truth. In the main, the film is well cast and well acted; perhaps Anne Hathaway was the exception. I did feel however, there were times when it seemed to drag. I accept it was important to show just how long and difficult the journey was, but perhaps it could have condensed some of the scenes as the film tended to over-emphasise the struggle that lay ahead, and I felt that I had been on the journey too.

Perhaps the story needed to be told, but the execution could have been better. Similar in many ways to other films that have portrayed how people are poorly treated and, in many of these cases, have been pressed into accepting whatever multi million dollar companies or the government deem suitable. The film was slow and lacked empathy: not just for the loved ones of the victims of 9/11, but for those attempting to put a value on a life. It didn't have the same impact as other films of a similar nature. Both Erin Brockovitch and A Civil Action were far superior in execution and portrayed the struggles of those involved, fighting for fairness and decency.
