For someone who is Christian or has read the book, the film was not as God centered as the book so it REALLY missed the mark on that. But Gods message can be depicted through the characters and their development throughout the film BUT IT STILL MISSED THE MARK OF BEING GOD CENTRED and that was a huge dissapointment.
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is my favorite book and author of all time. The message of the film is that Michael Hosea represents Gods unconditional love for us regardless of the many times we are unfaithful to him, reject him and runaway from him. God continues to love us anyway.
The film version was great, I loved the cinematography, it wasn't low budget like many Christian films and the cinematographer needs a big raise. The actors were beautiful - Its good to see fresh faces in films.
The film flowed just like the book which I loved, however, it felt a little rushed especially with the quick cutting of scenes.
I believe that if the film was at least 3 hours plus this would have allowed a smoother flow in story telling. It would have allowed someone who has not read the book before to "catch up" with what might be happening in the film.
