Having experienced Tartts’ dexterity of transmitting text into a substantial, imaginative experience that seems real and tangible, I was eager to see it come to the screen. Although disadvantaged by its inability to fully capture nuances that may contribute to the sublimity of concealed messages, the consistency of the exquisite cinematography made it a more pleasurable experience than I had anticipated from critics’ reviews.
