The performances are shallow and stiff. Characters are not developed. To make matters worse, they blatantly lied about the history to make Democrats look good. During that timeline blacks were Republicans, as they were freed by the Republican Party though a Civil War. Blacks swapped parties with the New Deal as they decided to take advantage of the social programs despite having to align with the Democrats. Democrats fought against women getting the vote (as did some Republicans as to get the vote women were required to fight in wars). Democrats also fought against the Civil Rights Bills which started under the Eisenhauer Presidency. They had no need to bring politics into the show, but once they did, be accurate. Shame on Hollywood. Not surprised they tried to rewrite history, but you can’t. Shame.
