The best thing about the show is the casting choices for Merlin, Morgana, Arthur, Uther & Gaius. Otherwise, the characters are pretty stupid, especially Merlin, who is often making bad calls and ignoring the Dragon's advice (despite actively seeking it out). The show also tries too hard to be racially inclusive. Guinevere is a maid of Maori appearance, and they jam people of colour in every chance they get, which is not historically realistic for Dark Ages Britain. That might not matter to some people, but for me, it just takes away from the illusion which we are supposed to be under when watching the show and destroys any possible believability of the legend.
