I had no idea what to expect from this movie, and I do not know Rami's work, but I got so much more than I bargained for. First, he was excellent. I am a huge Freddie fan and couldn't imagine anyone doing him justice. There was nothing cheesy, cliched or sub-par about the direction, from my point of view. Queen has a complicated story with many subplots which would probably take 4 hours to do justice to, and yet the editing was superb. The early setup with Freddie's home life, parents etc was well done and set the tone for his relentless need for acceptance, support and love. It moved on seamlessly until the final half when his discoveries about love, family, his music, and his genius at performance merged to create emotional connection with the audience. There was no mistaking the brilliance of the Live Aid performance. For me, it was impossible not to make the connection between it and the current thirst for a leader with a positive, authentic message. I will see it again and will buy the video. The emotion may take you by surprise.
