Who goes to the movies to have their stomach tied in a knot? The foundation was laid when a badly injured opal miner was carried out of the mine, surrounded by many miners angry about terrible safety. Two fellow miners, knowing that their injured co-worker had discovered a fabulous outcropping, left the angry mob to extract the uncut gem and quickly sell it. I walked out before everything unfolded. Early on, one character was more loathsome than the next. Even Kevin Garnett was a jerk.
Let's see, greed, lying, cheating, deception, violence, revenge, and crazy risk-taking are portrayed as normal day-to-day activities while actual virtues are instantly thrown in the dumper. As a primer on how not to live, the movie is a five-star textbook. Unfortunately, as entertainment, it is a one-star ulcer.
