Subroto Chatterji

I was quite dismayed on discovering that the film's credits did not mention Satyajit Ray despite the screenplay being freely adapted from his epic 1968 movie. The credits however mention being inspired by Upendrakishore Roy Choudhury's original story. It is worthy of note that Ray's screenplay bore a very tenous resemblance to the original story and in fact I may be justified in saying that he rewrote the entire storyline while retaining some of the characters in the original story.
