Some Spoilers for those who haven't heard the main bone of contention...amongst others. There's been alot of Negative response to this game, I think for alot of people they wanted another touching tale of Ellie and Joel roaming the countryside, and if that's what you're after then replay the first one, I don't believe that game was ever going to happen. This game is MUCH darker, it's a tale about the price of Revenge, for both Ellie and the Protagonist. I think that's the message ND were trying to convey, that in a World where anything that can go wrong, will, your pound of flesh will come at the cost of some of your own. I'll admit there were some scenes that didn't make much sense in the context of how experienced certain characters are in survival, but at the end of the day, even the most experienced person can make a bad judgement call. I think it's easy to judge from the prospective of the Player's own opinion. And as for any political LGBTQ messages this game might have had, I agree we've all been aware for a long time that Ellie is supposed to be Gay, it wasn't necessary to shove it in our faces with both main characters but I believe the relationship Ellie forges only reinforces the message on consequences for her choices. Anyway I've played through the entire game, it was much longer than I was anticipating, I can't remember what the average play time of the first one was but I felt I really got my monies worth from this. As a story the end will leave you wanting to sit in a dark room and rock yourself for a while but I hope in the long run they won't change the stories direction for any potential sequel, as I quite enjoyed the Protagonist angle, in fact I was kinda hoping for a choice ending as either her or Ellie, I would defo have smashed Ellie into next week in the end. Gameplay wise, not much changed, but I believe the forumla they had was already pretty perfect, if it ain't broke, don't fix it is appropriate in my humble opinion. Hopefully more people will give this a chance, it's easy to judge of so many negative player reviews but I believe this game has it's place in the saga just as much as the Original.
