While this book was enchanting and very descriptive, some of the dialogue took me out. It’s so unfortunate for to hear the focus on body talk and food from women narrators. There are better things to talk about!!! The book could’ve gone so much more in depth with the complex relationships between mother and daughter but chose to focus on the calories in a croissant and looking unflattering in a rain pancho (duh?). My mom bought this book for me and was hoping for something less superficial. With that said the story telling sparked vivid images in my head and kept the pages turning.
