I watched the film Oppenheimer today. Three hours in one hit. I wondered whether it would hold my attention for such a long period. It did.
It could be argued that this film could maybe have been better suited as a TV drama Doc series. This is now hypothetical.
I was impressed. The film was detailed in looking at the Life of Oppenheimer from his university and college days. His life in academic and scientific circles.
His family life, his association with communist sympathisers and party members pre World War Two and post war around the time of McCarthyism. Which coincides with his rise and fall and reconciliation in American society.
Obviously the central theme of this film has to be the development of the hydrogen and atomic bomb and the war uses and the effects on human life.
The film is a masterpiece . It has helped me to think about this issue and the so called weapons of mass destruction.
The film was not explicit in visual carnage but left much to the imagination in a subtle way.
I also have to mention the cast.
Cillian Murphy carries the film of course. But mention must be made of Robert Downey Jr as well. There are many others Matt Damon, Tom Conti Kenneth Branagh far too many to mention here. If you like a film to make you think and great acting based on fact and you haven't seen it already. Then give it a go.
