I was excited to see this based on the great reviews. I left feeling disappointed -- the "twist" was obvious almost immediately and I just didn't feel like it offered anything new. It was actually pretty boring and I sat there wondering what the creators were trying to say in terms of gender politics. I ended up not really caring! :) The crowd in the theatre left with a "meh" sort of reaction.

I found this to be a great start to this new trilogy. I loved the creepy vibe throughout and don't understand the super bad reviews! It does what you think it will do from the previews - scary woods, unknowable villains, and an easy set up to the next two chapters. I'm hopeful they take it somewhere beyond the original, but I had a great time watching this.

This was super fun - a most enjoyable kind of scary and gets us to where we start!

I appreciated the visuals of this movie and it was a fun way to spend a little movie time. Morally, it reminded me of The Village in the Stone Age. You may see the "twist" coming miles away and the message is a little heavy handed and biologically unclear at the end. Beyah is a cool main character and I was invested in her story.

The soundtrack is laughable and used so poorly to create "drama." This movie was really disappointing - cheesy acting, flimsy story, and uninteresting. I'll stop writing before I just say a bunch of catty things.

I thought the story in this was interesting and there are some laughs. I did spend all of the game scenes with my eyes and ears closed, though! :) :) I definitely punched the air in support of John and Amanda!

Even if it is predictable, Taissa Farmiga is great and it is a fun kind of scary. I didn't need them to make the greatest film in the genre - I just wanted a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon at the theatre. Also, it is beautifully shot!
