I loved this book, the story is based in my hometown of Dublin and I could relate to the history of the people and the city. It gives a good insight into the bitterness that emerged by the civil war, broken families lives and friendships. The novel ends in 1931 with the family moving to the suburbs and leaving their mixed memories behind them. Sheila O’Flanagan’s research on the period is evident although it is not intended to be an historically correct book.
