Nowhere close to his well known novels like Devotion of Suspect X and Salvation of a Saint. There’s a heavy dislike that builds towards the main suspects throughout the book that makes reading difficult and the ending isn’t satisfactory enough for me. Detective work also felt slow and lousy. I hardly felt surprised at any of the reveals. The best part of the book would be the capturing of changing times in Japan and that some of the side characters were likeable.
