A story of sexual abuse, incest, and human trafficking where the victim "realizes" she needs to be forgiven for the abuse she suffered. Because being trafficked as a child and sold into sex work and continually being forced back into it by life circumstances is apparently her fault.
And let's not forget the "hero" of the story who coerced a severely injured woman into marriage by saying he'd get her medical help if she married him. Because "God told him" she was supposed to be his wife, and she kept turning him down.
I read this book while being super religious and having theology as a hobby. My friends loved it. I found it horrific and further life experience has only deepend my convictions on the matter.
