First off. The location was BEAUTIFUL. Cars, costumes, look of the movie were amazing. The movie itself was mediocre. Script was “fine” but the direction felt disjointed. The vibe of the movie was indecisive that the acting suffered that there was no chemistry between the leads. Scenes were either rushed that character development suffered, or they were milked to pointlessness (like the guy playing an entire ukelele singing sequence). Really bad directing and editing. Sadly, Colin Firth was trapped in this really badly directed movie that he failed to fully shine through except for maybe a couple of scenes. You see glimpses of his brilliance near the end of the movie with his conversation/interaction with her aunt. Both actors in that were pretty good despite the “average” writing. And watching a groveling Colin Firth in the awkward proposal scene was one of the very few bright spots. The movie just lunged into too many directions that it had no identity....even trying to imitate the ending of “My Fair Lady”. If the intent was to modernize that movie with a early 1900’s version, then you will see no hint of it throughout the movie except the ending. I wanted to like it, but I can’t.

Why? Why even make this movie? And why cast a great ensemble cast to play second fiddle to a second tier lead of a tv show?

It was ok. Plot was bland. The situations she got herself in was very over the top but I found myself giggling every now and then, sop that in itself saved this from a one star review.

Not a Diaz fan, but this movie was a hilarious gem. The ending was predictable but the journey was insanely fun. Leslie Mann was outstanding. Great fun and enjoyable to watch.

Beautifully written and acted movie. Nuff said.

Just saw this trash today. You know those really bad original movies by the SyFy channel? This is pretty much what the Star Wars franchise is now. Bad dialogue, bad character developments, and so much pandering not only to fans hoping to recapture some of the old movies, but also political pandering. Up to the end of the movie, I can’t recall 90% of the names of the newer characters and I didn’t really care to...

I just watched this for the first time today. I’m surprised it wasn’t as awful as the trailers I saw decades ago when this first came out. The side stories were cute and well thought out. I just wished they showed me context in Nick’s two assistants, who were the most honest to him. As it’s typical in most of these rom-com, the journey is usually the best part and the ending tends to be in the cheesy side. Still a pretty damn good movie on a lazy afternoon.

Very fun movie. Also good to see Catherine Zeta Jones die on her attempting to speak French in the movie😒. Lots of epic scenes like the final car chase sequence. Great cast minus Zeta Jones. Just a fun packed movie.

I wanted to like it, but I just can’t. The directing and “theatre-stage” format distracted from the story way too much that it just became silly. Maybe the director was trying to depict the silliness of the fake, moral stance of the Russian aristocrats of that era. But that is comedy in itself considering the director is a Brit. There is no air of no nobility/aristocracy in the way Anna and Vronsky were portrayed. So the scandalous affair fell flat and trivial. The context felt dismissed and arbitrary. The overall feel of the movie was like a puppet show. Everything was so micro managed that the actors never got the chance to act and allow the character they play to breathe.

This movie is a pleasant gem. Compelling story lines and character development. Very surprised I liked this movie even though I’m not a racing fan.
