This film was shown on the Curiosity channel on TV and I happened on it just going through the channels. I live in Zimbabwe, where there is widespread poverty so I was interested to see how the Rwandan women had managed to improve their lives. I have to say, that in my experience, women are better than men at starting and maintaining co-ops and small businesses which can then grow into big ones, like the banana wine industry. Perhaps it is because they carry the responsibility of feeding and providing for their children, especially when, like Christine, they are the sole provider.
I was very impressed to find out that 64% of the Rwandan parliament is composed of women. There is not much publicity about Rwanda - that I know of - and it would seem that there are lessons there for other countries in Africa.
If there is a follow-up to this film I would very much like to see it.
