Amazing game that explores the dangers of revenge and obsession, with incredible visuals and AI, everything is animated in flawless reality, genuinely catching me by surprise with the amount of animations for countless different situations and conditions
It's sad to see how badly some people have review bombed this game for sad, petty reasons. It seems that the majority of them haven't even played the game: if you read through the negative reviews a lot of people have copied and pasted the same arguments, most of which don't make sense. I'll try to address some of these now:
*A FEW SPOILERS*
1) "Joel is stupid and weak compared to the last game" - A considerable amount of time has passed since the first game in which Joel and Ellie have spent time surrounded by a community in which Joel has softened and learned to open himself up again, especially after the journey with Ellie and reuniting with Tommy. His character has evolved from the bitter, heartless man he was at the beginningof the first game, building on where we left him at the end of the first game. He has mostly left behind his years of brutalising people, which is what makes his death so tragic: he had changed, but the truth of his past could not be out run.
2) A large amount of the hate this game appears to be getting is because of the inclusion of a Transgender character and a lesbian relationship, 2 things which are barely a focal point, if they weren't aware she was Trans, i doubt many of these trolls would have even been aware. It's sad that in this day and age, something like this can draw attention from the incredible game play and story
3) "Ellie is overly violent and cares nothing about the deaths she's causing" ....yes. that's the point of the story. Please play the game first
4) "Ellie letting Abbie get away shows that she thinks Joel deserved to die" ...no. The main theme of this story is revenge and the eternal cycle it will create. Abbie is seeking revenge because Joel murdered her father in cold blood, Ellie is seeking revenge because Abbie did the same to Joel, if she kills Abbie she will be continuing this endless chain of pain and death. The nuance of the story is too deep to be broken into "Ellie think Joel deserved to die"
