This series covers the realistic challenges of a hs teenager in this day and society. It is insightful & inspiring.
It goes against a lot of religious practices but the *genius in this series is they address the challenges teenagers face. I am a Christian and I love how they tackle the perspective of the lgbt community, kids with weird parents, and children that grew up in toxic & abusive environments. I am not super stoked on the encouragement of engaging in loads of sex in high school nor do I agree with same sex relationships *but I appreciate that the director/producer went the route of highlighting the loads of sex and sexual orientation because these are challenges our youth and young adults face today.
I thought the filming was great and I was impressed on how the intros set the tone for the storyline in each episode, sort of like how “dear white people” is. The character development was also great, I hope they do another season.
