First time around I got caught up in the whitewashing thing. However once I gave it another chance without that bias and paid attention to the plot it not only reminded me of the anime but cleared up some things for me as well. Now, I see it for what it was, a Hollywood adaptation with a diverse cast that reflects the world of the anime. Just, give it a shot without any bias coming in
