Fascinating and well written. At times hard to read but literally couldn't put it down. A revealing slice of the conflicting and painful emotional push-pull of abusive relationships, the effects of which are always deeper and longer lasting than the bruises. The resilience of children to overcome and succeed is always remarkable but many are not so gifted or lucky and don't have anyway out. I'm sure it was much harder to write than read.
