I was riveted by the complexities of each character, the Story lines which weave true to Life through the upbringing of fathers and sons. We gain some insight into the mother, in a later Episode, through her own mother’s recounting the lengths she went to, protecting her as a young child, from her own father… This TV Series is totally Brilliantly conceived, one wonders at the dysfunction of the families of the Writers. It helps when you have some personal insights into families, and the hurts often caused by parents. At first I thought Max was a classic Narcissist. He easily and without conscience takes his son’s power, from him. One is left with this uneasy feeling between them. Kaden has no voice. He has no appropriate outlet to tell his father what he really thinks and feels. Kaden tragically resorts to acting out his need for power, with High Class Prostitutes. One can sense through his dialogue with her, he is thinking of how he feels in the presence of his father. To never experience his fathers interest in him as an individual. And have his opinions valued. Kaden is largely mute. His mother is either in denial or totally unaware. There is a scene where his boyhood is recalled, with a dying seal on the beach shore. It seems implied, the meaning of his lingering over it as it was dying, with his mother by his side, unaware, that Kaden felt a kinship with the dying seal. As he goes through his life dead. Numbing his true feelings and rage at his fathers arrogant dismissiveness, of his intelligence. The addition of Sarah Lancashire is a genius move. As she portrays a growing Megalomaniac ,who infuses the Episodes with a Sci-Fi Futuristic Vision for Britain. Her Visionary plans, for Social Housing, are carefully juxtaposed with a creeping danger, that she masks a Dictatorial Personae. Sound like anyone in a Male Body? Naturally she wants to run for Office…. For anyone who recalls the Crashing Down of the Rupert Murdoch News Empire , this TV Series echo’s his and his son’s cover ups of, illegally tapping the phones of celebrities, and hacking mobile phones in the most unscrupulous ways, with self serving motives. The MAX Empire resonates. This is really a great Watch! Escape for a few hours. Totally engrossing. Some scenes so unpredictable, I could not bear to watch- . It’s right up there - though in it’s own Niche- with The Fall and Mr Mercedes. All great intense viewing too! Such fantastic acting by all! Yes- do go and make cups of Tea with a bikkie!

I would not recommend younger people - Teens - watch this TV series. Nor those high in sensitivity. With the quantity of material available about Ted Bundy, the other pieces of his relationship with the later author of her book , The stranger beside me, occur some time prior, then during his killing . What Netflix or other Production Company could never communicate, is not only the magnitude of horror, in all things related to Ted, his sick psychopathic mind, but the grim reality of what these women endured, their plight of terror when realising they were alone to fight for their lives, alone in being brutalized and alone when discarded without a burial. Ted the day prior to his deserved Execution prays to GOD, and that GOD was with every one of those women, as Ted robbed them of their life force. We see him escape from prison, defend himself in court, and perform using every tactic. His marriage proposal without a hint of warmth or sincerity, an ironic insight, into how many women were blind to his real self, and his self defence against the Charge of 1st degree murders and kidnapping of, Women, as he asks in court if she will marry him. People quickly forgot when looking at him smiling laughing articulating, what gory violence and total Terror he inflicted on over 30 women whom he killed. Even James Dobson the Pastor giving his statement a day prior to Ted's date with death, had his own agenda against pornography, giving Ted the excuses he wanted. And the naive ridiculous diagnosis by a brain chemistry expert. Of bi polar for Ted and not, if known at that time, NPD and psychopathy - throw in love of Necrophillia - and the profile of Ted may be edging closer to reality.

I like this Netflix tv series After their purchase of the House there continues an undercurrent of instability, off balance, with every character we meet. Except for the Babcock's. In the face of their individual exposures to being undermined, each demonstrate a firmness of their own identities. When the cancer affected private eye is introduced, she inexplicably wears different coloured gloves . The husband and wife keep taking on offers from people in their radar , in ways many of us would, given stress, and a measure of desperation. But they do so without looking into their qualifications. Or backgrounds . What to me is truely terrifying is the real life awareness of secret occult communities which do wicked acts to further their occult desires. Who would want a best friend like the character of the realtor, Nora's past acquaintance? Like most of those the Babcock's associate with, she perpetuates that feeling of, being de stabilised - but subtlety. I am at episode 3. And glad to have stumbled upon it

Based on what expectations each has of what they want to get from a Netflix tv Series, in life if people or a crowd doesn't hold your interests, you'll find another lot to hang out with. It must be a roller coaster on the nerves for any Actor Director to wait for Reviews, of all their hard work and sacrifices. Simply from the view point that the actor who plays both twins Leni and Gina, was first seen as a very bit part character actor in one or two of The Bourne Movies, as a CIA Analyst low rank computer op, I like her work here in this tv series. She has played girl friends, and a mistress, so for her, this seems to be quite a big deal, to carry this tv series on both characters. I have seldom watched anything I would label as Terrible or Bad. Unless I inwardly Cringe at both the lines and interpretation of how to play a character, and actually need to Stop the movie or Show, because I feel ill, I think about the actor in Echoes here, and I find that her interpretation is subtle. The flashbacks to the trauma in the bath tub, comes up at times when made - ever so dutifully - to hug her father. The Country Female Sheriff is played nicely and she manages to hide her nack for spotting BS with a disarming smile and Country friendliness. The early loss of their mother made each vulnerable and forced to depend on one another. This tv show Echoes for me, is worth watching. Gina the character seems only happy at Work in LA. Everywhere else she is tense and distant. A lot going on in her head.

Remaining within boundaries to be careful not to divulge my own story, I was thinking how any woman or man in the vulnerable, fearful predicament as depicted in The Maid, with Alex the single mum, without loving supports from anyone in her family, would have the opportunity, mental Space, physical safety, to watch and follow each Episode? Fear is paralysing. The Maid is real. It's not a Series to watch if none of the circumstances touch you in some area. For people who are going through what Alex and Maddie face, have lived long lives gained immeasurable experience and self reflection, would relate to this Series. The unfolding reveals, tell us, how much of our lives we live out our early experiences, we carry this paradigm unconsciously, and it runs us There are scenes where little Maddie, chooses to protect herself, as her own mother did as a child. Yes each actor makes you believe. In our World of CG movies guns and blood, Netflix offers some relief from those, with real lived experiences. Alex's character is remarkably steady. A thinker. What is bitter sweet are the compassion and generosity, understanding and real practical reliable supports Alex finds at The Women's Shelter. As she and her little one, have ended up there largely due to not having any of these from those in her life. Andie McDowell's character as Alex's mum, is complex, having passed on to her daughter and grand daughter her own circumstances. To anyone in Alex's position, anyone who is aware of someone in this, get away. In brief, I was shocked initially, as Alex's difficulties and work cleaning houses where every family member proves self interested, abusive and blameful, has been my own experience. Real life Stories can be a supportive family teaching tool. To educate young girls, young boys. How we treat each other and the value of understanding our past. Am still watching, after Episode 6. A Netflix Show NOT about Serial killers........

23 WALKS There are huge needs for Films for any significant Age and stage of life. It’s the constant flow of underlying emotion in each character. Fern and Dave, that makes this Film Live. Their dogs bare the consequences for each of their Pack Leaders, when for Fern, she needs time away. The dogs deal with the deep feelings their Master and Mistress go through during these, breaks. Dave is steady and kind, also insecure and lonely. A Line Dave says, speaks volumes, of men in general, he responds to Fern’s “ No Sex Dave “, with “ just being together is, good too “. More reassuring himself, than Fern. There are different complexities for each in their lives, at times Dave pushes some of these unto Fern. Echoing our real lives, even when we are in our 60’s,…. We still make mistakes. It’s Real. It is slow. A good Film for when the day has been busy, with a Red Wine and Cheese Board, relaxing. It is moving at times, as they navigate what kind of relationship will work for-either , circumstances compels them to talk and support one another. For me, a sweet, relatable Film. I so recommend it. 😊😊😊😊

I'm just a country girl with no high school diploma so y'all won't get any intellectualism about Run here. Some critique the absence of the mother's past and her motives, in having developed as she has, a paralysing fear, of her own, of her daughters independence from her Some will recall the true and tragic story of Gypsy Rose. The old but twisted syndrome of Munch Housens by proxy. The mother's relentless need to keep her child young or Teen, sick, and being devoted to maintain this. Some really Super people who are long in years may recall, Whatever happened to baby Jane?. With our then leading actress Betty Davis and her co star Joan Crawford. A layered story of a sister keeping her younger sister who is wheelchair bound imprisoned at home, tormenting her, out of resentment and hatred. I like this movie RUN. And see many cross over threads from the previous 2, am sure there are more. The mother's past does not matter. As far as a child is concerned, the mother has no past, and began life with the baby she gave life to, and cares for, the rest of her days. The mother's past begins at the birth of her premature, sickly baby, who she is wheeled in to visit in the humicrib. Her world , as most mother's, is total and intensely a focused myopic experience Her character dialogue, Frequently reflects back to her brighter but introverted daughter, " Yes, just as I said you would ". So control is all she has. On a plain simply human level, one feels the daughters struggles. One scene where she drags herself out her bedroom window, bringing a soldering iron, and a mouthful of water, is viscerally felt. This contrast of her mother's self serving constraints, and the daughters immense efforts physically and psychologically, to break it. I'm often reminded of Robin Williams's character in The teacher of the Dead Poets Society: He encourages his students to " tear out rip destroy " the book pages that dare to rate Poems with Stars, Shakespeare's soliloquies ..... We give them 2 stars..... I have just complied to that format here in 5 stars. But I will add, The Movie needs none. If Stories though remote from our own have a human truth to them we can learn about ourselves. Learn about other's. Life is for living and understanding. Cheer on the daughter and those she manages to connect with to finally break free as all adult children must

I never tire of Frasier, but of course repeats become a little uninteresting. I have been looking for a TV Series, that did not involve shootings and body outlines on the ground Something relatable. Something I could learn from. As a break from Studying on line during Covid19. So glad I down loaded the free SBS App. Anyway, yesterday I found it! Why women kill. First I thought it was a Docu about real life female killers. And was not so enthused about that at present. After the first Episode I was avidly into it. The 3 different decades. Settings. Are superbly done. The Supermarket Scene from the 60’s was amazing in detail, Aisle after Aisle of 60’s looking Canned foods, trolleys. I especially enjoy Beth’s character, as she grows as a person, her learning curve coming through her husbands affair. And Beth’s husband, as the super straight entitled conservative typical 1960’s husband. I like Lucy leu’s character. As an Actress I have always found her aloofness and confidence suited the characters she has played. The super Wealthy Gay Mans’ Wife, I think is played brilliantly. As her Character IS Super confident airy and solution oriented. Beth’s Character as the still grieving wife over the loss of their daughter, has more depth of feeling, and only really shows this to us, when with her neighbour. Who is also so enjoyable to watch. A real sassy heart of Gold say it as it is kind of Woman. This TV Show has I think some extremely Talented Script Writers.! The Character ( my memory for names left in my 40’s), who is a Script Writer married to a Control Freak, is also well constructed and thought out: we don’t become wise to his personal struggle , to step up, empower himself, make decisions for himself that reflect who he is, until much later. His Poly loving wife at first seems super accommodating and real and honest. But underneath all that, she is The Leader of that relationship. And later when she invites Jay to live with them, her weaknesses start to be explored. Forget the whole Morality of this little family Unit. No one is suggesting you emmulate them. The flaws in each of their Characters, is what is interesting to watch and a lot can be learnt, in asking the question:” what does each character want ?” An interesting assembly of Human Nature. When this Script Writer, married to the Lawyer, has his 2ND. Script Sold for a fortune, you can see, his confidence sky rocket. All of a sudden he is brave enough to tell his wife, who busy treating him as a child needing to go to RE HAB after a week or 3 on Coke, tells her straight and boldly, NO!! And Jade , her Character just wants to be “ taken care of “, is interesting too. I am about to watch the 9TH Episode in a minute, with some Black Kalamta Olives etc. and red wine, before going back to Studying. Look, if you like realustic Period Settings, and clothing, even the language is tailor made, and interesting characters who are all growing, you will be so satisfied and glued, to this Series, I guarantee! Just began this 9TH Episode ( I think ) And Taylor , her character is so true to life - she now can not Control Her script writing newly emboldened husband, so of course she has to now go through Jade - to manipulate and control him- and as Jade just wants a family who accept her, she wants to please Taylor- and act as Taylors Spy!!! That cunning Co-dependent control freak Taylor!! I am yelling at Jade to “ Wake the hell up!!!”

When you and partner or simply glorious You, are tired, the day has been challenging, this is Not the movie to watch. The four parents all with their own Agendas, background and list of past resentments, are played so well, you’d be forgiven for forgetting it’s American. The Morale Dilemmas faced by and rejected by the majority of these parents, first, before Professions, before Pride in their Errant immature entitled adolescents, mirrors a Bergman film. If you want to relax somewhere comfy not be disturbed and be ready for at least another half of a second bottle of Red, and you’re up to listening, and if not learning something about our World in the West, our inhumanity, when it suits our purposes, then in it’s Most Elegantly Simple View, to agree with the meaning of 1 life. The 1 life of a destitute older - yes - black woman, having “ Sourced “ for herself for a night a presumed safe enclosed space, that so happens to be harbouring an ATM as well, where 3 Teens from extremely Wealthy, Prosperous and Thinking Families, decide to do the unthinkable. And upon disclosure to parent already deep in, with covering and shutting out a father, who’s Idealism and profound knowledge of human behaviours through American History, is ignored, mocked and disregarded. The battle of 2 brothers, 1 a Historian prior Teacher and the other an ambitious Politician running for Governor. Their wives want their boys, lives to prosper, and give lip service only to the loss of 1 human life, at the hands of their boys. The brothers need to resolve their own past history, to work together to make a Space for their own healing, and the step up to be Accountable - Code of Character- their boys really need. At the cost of their wives leaving. For me, a thought provoking movie needing attention, quiet candles and a lot of good red wine!!!
