One of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful movies I have ever seen. del Toro skillfully mixes gothic horror and romantic love into Cold War/McCarthyism paranoia, but it is Sally Hawkins who is the great revelation in this movie, saying more with the twitch of an eyebrow than most fan-boy female actresses manage in a whole movie. And when she smiles, I defy anyone not to fall in love with her. Stunning movie.
