I'm a big fan of Dan and his books. However, the Cellist was so lacking in plot, and so corrupt in premise and purpose that I can never go back again. Dan is a great writer, and a bad business man; he misread his audience by 50%. Gabriel Allon needs to be a conservative to make his history believable, and most of his fans (if not all) also need to be conservative. Dan should have known this, and he should have waited until the FBI report on January 6 was released before he wrote that screed. I am so disappointed.
